From the Rock Valley Bee, March 16, 1906: Grant Items:

Mr. Christian Wolf, an aged and respected citizen passed away on the 8th instant. The deceased was born at Dresden, Germany 84 years ago. When a young man he and his wife came to this country, locating in Illinois. Twelve years ago, with his family, he moved to this state and located in Grant township where [he] lived until his death.

The 1900 U.S. census has Christian S. Wolf (78, born March 1822 in Germany, immigrated 1853, a farmer) living in Grant Township, Sioux County with wife Elizabeth S. (68, born Aug. 1831 in Germany, immigrated 1853) and son Joseph (27, born July 1872 in Illinois).
