Mrs. Henry J. Schalekamp of Orange City died at her home Sunday morning following a brief illness. She had been an invalid for the past 20 years, having been ill with arthritis.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the home and the First Reformed Church in Orange City, Rev. R. Ongna officiating. She was laid to rest in the Orange City Cemetery.

Mary Louisa De Jong was born on March, 1866 at Pelia, Iowa. She came to Sioux County with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry De Jong at the age of five years. Following her marriage to Henry J. Schalekamp, they moved to Yakima, Washington and made their home there until 1927 when they returned to Orange City where they have lived since.

Survivors include her husband, Henry J. Schalekamp; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Van Wyk and Mrs. W.S. Short; one brother, John of Montreal, Canada.

Among those from Sioux Center who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Jake Schalekamp and Dena Boeyink, Mr. and Mrs. H.J. Schalekamp, and Mr. and Mrs. Edward E. Roelofs.
