Died: 1934

Mrs. Jacob C. Schalekamp passed away Thursday morning of heart disease. She was sixty-one years old.

Jennie Slikkerveer was born in Orange City. She lived in Sioux County all her life. In 1893 she was married to Mr. Schalekamp and the couple began farming near Middleburg. They farmed there until fourteen years ago, when they moved to Sioux Center.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the home and at the First Reformed Church, Rev. L.A. Brunsting officiating.

There are three children surviving Mrs. Schalekamp besides her husband. They are Mrs. (Cornelia)John Bomgaars of Sioux Center, Mrs. (Hendrina) Ring Wielinga of Boyden and Mrs. (Laurina) Guys Kuyper of Doon.

Among those from out of town that attended the services were Tony Van Howeling, Mrs. Dick Vander Ploeg, Martin Klien of Pella, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Slikkerveer of Shenandoah, Harry Slikkerveer of Red Oak, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Slikkerveer of Little Rock. In addition there were a large number of friends present for the services from Steen, Minnesota, and towns in this county.

We sympathize with Mr. Schalekamp who is now left alone to journey onward on life’s pathway which is not always strewn with roses. May the God of all mercy and loving kindness be with him and also be a Comforter to him and guide him onward until also his time of departing will come.
