Mrs. Marjorie Hofland, age 79, of Orange City, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2008, at the Orange City Area Health System Hospital.

There will be a memorial service on Thursday, August 21, at 10:30 A.M., at the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Paul Bakker will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. There will be a prayer service on Thursday, at 9:30 A.M., at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City, with the Rev. Stephen Breen officiating.

Visitation will be after 4:30 P.M. on Wednesday, with the family present from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., at the funeral home.

Marjorie Eleanor was born on May 20, 1929, in rural Orange City, the daughter of Cornelius and Maggie (Scheeringa) Siebersma. She was raised on a farm near Carnes and attended a country school and the Orange City Christian School.

On June 12, 1946, she married Elmer Vernon Hofland in Orange City. Except for a short time in Sioux Center, they made their home in Orange City. She was a homemaker and also worked in a restaurant, a grocery store, and a clothing store. In addition, she was the custodian of the Calvary Christian Reformed Church for several years.

She was a member of the Calvary Christian Reformed Church. She enjoyed playing cards and games with her family, cooking, and baking.

Survivors include her husband of more than 62 years, Elmer; two sons and their wives, the Rev. Alan and Mary Hofland, of Battle Creek, Michigan; and Carl and Ruth Hofland, of Sioux Center; a daughter and her husband, Diane and Wayne Westenberg, of Orange City; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Chris and Susan Hofland, Cynthia and Kolin Redman, Michelle Hofland, Melissa and Joshua Young, Matthew and Karen Westenberg, Maria and Brett Keepers, Julie and Josh Pickard, and Kristin and Dan Breen; eleven great-grandchildren; and eight brothers and sisters, Sophia Van Zee, of Rock Valley; Lucille Vande Brake, of Sioux Center; Hermina Muilenburg, Steve Siebersma, and Edna Katje, all of Orange City; Stanley Siebersma, of Tempe, Arizona; Cornelius Siebersma, of Orange City ; and Marilyn Faber, of San Marcos, California.

Memorials may be directed to the Orange City Christian School.
