Funeral services were held at the First Christian Reformed Church at Orange City at 10 A.M. Monday, December 18, for Mrs. James Hofland, 88, of Orange City who died December 14, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gerrit Horstman of Hull.

Services were conducted by the Rev. John Hallinga and burial was in West Lawn Cemetery at Orange City.

The former Gertrude Bonnes was born at Orange City February 14, 1884. She married James Hofland there November 14, 1903. The couple farmed near Orange City until retiring and moving to town in 1948. Mr. Hofland passed away December 28, 1956.

Survivors include five daughters: Mrs. Gerrit (Angeline) Horstman of Hull; Mrs. Art (Kathryn) Schuiteman of Sioux Center; Mrs. John (Gertrude) Jacobs and Mrs. Jake (Henrietta) Mars of Orange City; and Mrs. Henry (Elvina) Bos of Melvin; three sons: John of Sanborn; James, Jr. and Elmer of Orange City; 53 grandchildren; 118 great-grandchildren; two brothers: John Bonnes of Austin, Minnesota; Cornie Bonnes of Sanborn; and two sisters, Mrs. John Hofman and Mrs. Ben Hofman of Sanborn.

Note: 1925 Iowa Census states her parents were John Bonnes and Engline (Eerkes) Bonnes
