Possibly the Hawarden Independent, September 26, 1934

Funeral services for Charles S. Cobb, professor of science in East high school in Sioux City, were held at the auditorium in that school Saturday afternoon. Mr. Cobb passed away in a Sioux City hospital last Thursday following an operation. He was born in Andalusia, Ill., Sept. 24, 1864, and lived there until he was 8 years old when he came to Iowa. His parents first located at Audubon and later they moved to Sac County. Mr. Cobb is well remembered in Ireton, his parents having resided here for years. It was during the superintendency of Mr. Cobb that the high school was instituted and the first graduating class, that of 1890, from the Ireton High School stepped forth after receiving diplomas with Mr. Cobb's signature on them. The class was composed of Sarah Davison Kleine, Augie Elder Ferguson, Kathryn Burns, Anna Moffat Bordan, Robert C. Brown, and Herbert E. Wing. All are still living except Mr. Wing, who passed away a few year ago. The class had the distinction with Mr. Cobb, their old superintendent, to hold a real reunion some years ago. The deceased had visited at Ireton at different times the past years and had many friends here who were saddened by news of his death. He is survived by his wife, one son, G. S. Cobb of New Orleans, two brothers and a sister. He was a brother-in-law of Mrs. Wylie Scott of Chicago, also a former resident of Ireton.
