Mrs. Jennie De Haan, age 88, of Orange City, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at the Orange City Area Health System Long Term Care Facility.

Jennie was born on March 31, 1923, in Boyden, the daughter of Gerbin and Elizabeth (Siebersma) Kroeze. She was raised in the Orange City area, where she attended the Christian school.

On June 18, 1947, she married Albert Milo De Haan, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. They made their home in Orange City, where she was a homemaker and bookkeeper, first at De Vries Transfer and then at Al's Floor Covering. In 2006, they moved to the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City, and in November of 2010, she transferred to the Long Term Care Facility.

"Jack" was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church and the Monica Society of the Orange City Christian School. In retirement, she enjoyed going on service projects with "Al" and helping those in need.

She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, and playing games with family and friends. She especially liked visiting with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and they spent many summer vacations together, mostly at Alexandria, Minnesota.

Survivors include her husband of more than 63 years; four children and their spouses, Connie and Bruce Lefever, Linda and Marvin Toering, and Dennis and Deb De Haan, all of Orange City; and Alan and Ellen De Haan, of Cambridge, Massachusetts; thirteen grandchildren, Ross Lefever, and his wife, Stef; Ryan Lefever, and his wife, Amanda; Jill, and her husband, Brian Van Bruggen; Joy, and her husband, Luke Taylor; Marvin Toering, Jr., and his wife, Katie; Miranda, and her husband, Brandon Reisma; Michael Toering, and his fiancé, Cayla Larson; Tabatha Toering, and her fiancé, Anthony De Haan; Mark Toering; Isaac Toering; Jessica, and her husband, Michael Kiss; Michelle, and her husband, Jordan Warntjes; and Josef De Haan; two sisters, Matilda Newendorp, of Sioux Center; and Elizabeth Vande Berg, of Prescott Valley, Arizona; two sisters-in-law, Marcene Kroeze and Marilyn Kroeze, both of Orange City; a brother-in-law, Marion Wiersma, of Sioux Center; and Al's family, a brother and his wife, Stanley and Phyllis De Haan, of Orange City; a sister, Betty Nitz, of Toledo; and a sister-in-law, Carolyn De Haan, of Orange City.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucy Jeltema-Faber, Wilma Fedders, and Gertrude Vink-Wiersma; two brothers, Steve Kroeze and Gary Kroeze; and ten half-brothers and half-sisters, John Kroeze, Harry Kroeze, Grace Wielenga, Jessie Huisman, Nellie Van Gelder, Rena Huisman, Etje Kroeze, Willenke Kroeze, Peter Kroeze, and an infant.
