Andrew Huisman was born Dec. 17, 1904, in Orange City. He married Rena Kroeze Jan. 26, 1927, in Orange City. They farmed until January of 1964 when they moved into Orange City.

He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, where he had served as deacon. He was a member of the Mutual Telephone Board of Sioux Center and a past member of the Orange City Elevator Board.

Mr. Huisman died July 20, 1979. Funeral services were held at the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City on Monday, July 23 at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. John T. Ebbers officiated.Special music was provided by Mrs. Peter Jeltema as organist and a duet, Mrs. John Swets and Mr. Reynold Van Gelder, sang.
Casket bearers were Bruce Van Schepen, Gene Huisman, Wesley Huisman, Gregg Boone, Eric Boone, and Michael Van Grouw. Interment was held at West Lawn Cemetery, Orange City. The funeral arrangements were provided by Van Gelder Funeral Home, Orange City.

Survivors include the widow; two sons, Verne of rural Orange City and Alan of New York; four daughters, Mrs. Rodney (Esther) De Haan of Winter Haven, Fla., Mrs. Almon (Helena) Brandt of Imlay, Mich., Mrs. Vernon (Ruth) Boone of Sioux Center, and Mrs. Eugene (Eleanor) Van Grouw of Orange City; 14 grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren; two brothers, Jake of Sioux Center, and William of Orange City; and four sisters, Mrs. John (Marie) Kiel, Mrs. Tim (Elizabeth) Rens, Miss Nell Huisman, and Mrs. Neal (Ann) Jongerius, all of Orange City.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, and four grandchildren.
