Jessie Huisman, 88, of Orange City died Sunday, October 30, in a nursing home in Orange City after a long illness. Graveside services were at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, in West Lawn Cemetery and memorial services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City with the Rev. Ralph Pontier officiating.

Born Jessie Kroeze April 27, 1900. in Orange City, she married Herbert Huisman February 12, 1920, at Orange City. The couple farmed in the Orange City area and moved into town in 1957. Her husband died March 7, 1961, in Orange City.

She moved to Pioneer Memorial Home in 1965 and since 1970 had resided at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City. She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church and Faith, Hope and Love Society of the church.

Survivors include five sons, William of Norwalk, California, Gerrit of Sacred Heart, Minnesota, Kenneth of Hospers, Stanley of Phoenix, Arizona, and Marvin of Littleton, Colorado; two daughters, Etta Van Steenwyk and Hildred Vande Berg, both of Orange City; a sister, Rena Huisman of Orange City; six half-sisters; Lucy Faber, Wilma Fedders, Gertrude Wiersma, Mathilda Newendorp, Jennie De Haan and Elizabeth Vander Berg; a half-brother, Steve Kroeze; 24 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.

Note: her parents were Gerrit "Gerbin" Kroeze and his mother, Etsje DeJager.
