Mrs. Gerrit H. Franken, Sr. of Sioux Center, Iowa died August 20, 1963 at the Sioux Center Community Hospital after a lingering illness, at the age of 72 years. Mrs. Franken, born Gertie Bosch, on Feb. 23 1881, at Orange City, married Gerrit H. Franken on Feb. 26, 1914 at Steen, MN.

She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dries Bosch of Steen, MN. She spent all of her married life on a farm near Middleburg, a member of the Free Grace Reformed Church, retiring to Sioux Center in 1947 and presently a member of the First Reformed Church.

Survivors include the widower, seven sons, and three daughters, Everett, Gerrit, and Mrs. Jack (Louise) Oliver of Sioux Center, Dries of Norwalk, CA. Mrs. Bernard (Grace) Van Batavia, and Howard of Luverne, MN. Louis and Mrs. Wilmer (Kathleen) Altena of Rock Valley, and Irwin of Orange City. She also leaves six brothers and three sisters, Gerrit, Henry, John, Dick, and Mrs. Carrie Elbers, all of Steen, MN, Ed and Mrs. John Jongerius of Bellflower, CA., Joe of Phonenix AZ. and Anne of Sioux Center; 44 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
