Died: August 20, 2000 Rock Valley, IowaJake Van De Stouwe, 75, of Rock Valley, died of cancer Sunday, Aug. 20,2000 at his residence.
Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Wed. at Netherlands Reformed Church in Rock Valley, with the Rev. John den Hoed officiating. Burial will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Valley View Cemetery. with Porter Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Van De Stouwe was born Feb. 25, 1925 in Lyon County, Iowa, the son of Gerrit and Susie (Van Den Top) Van De Stouwe.
He married Margaret Vande Hoef Sept. 17, 1947, in Sioux Center, Iowa. The couple farmed near Hull, Iowa for 28 years. In 1968, he was employed by Crow Hybrid Corn Co. and was district manager for 23 years. They moved to Rock Valley in 1982.
He was a member and former board member of Rock Valley Senior Citizens Center and enjoyed fishing and traveling.
Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Gregory and Eleanor of Rogers, Ark; a daughter and her husband, Sandra and Loren De Jager of Hull; three brothers and their wives, William and Gertrude of Inwood, IA. Gerrit and Lois of Rock Valley and Clarence and Faye of Alta Loma, CA.; a sister and her husband, Alice and Albert Bakker of Rock Valley; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; and a great step-grandchild.
