Funeral Held Here for Arie Van Meveren

Funeral services for Arie Van Meveren 71, who died of a heart attack Oct. 17 at the Tracy hospital, were held at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 21 from the Tracy Presbyterian church with the Rev. Clair Marvel officiating. Interment was made in the Tracy cemetery.

Pallbearers were Adrian Landwhere, Lawrence Filter, Kent Popping, Donald Van Meveren and Richard and Arie Van Meveren.

Mr. Van Meveren was born July 14, 1903 at Hospers, Iowa, the son of Arie and Elisabeth Dexter Van Meveren, attended school in Leota and lived in that community until moving to the Tracy area in 1945.

He was married to Christine Gudmundson on May 20, 1924 at Redwood Falls, to which union four children were born. He worked as a mechanic and farmed most of his life.

Surviving children: Arlie Van Meveren, Garvin: Robert Van Meveren, Slayton: Mrs. Melvin (Ruth) Poppinga, Wadena. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one child who died in infancy, his parents and five brothers and one sister.
