Last Rites for Mrs. Ed Johnson Will Be Friday

Mrs. Ed M. Johnson, 69, died at the Hawarden hospital from a heart condition Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Trinity Lutheran church, Rev. O. F. W. Pittack officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill cemetery at Ireton under direction of the Barnard Funeral home.

Minnie Van Meveren was born at Pella, Ia., on June 5, 1887. On May 30, 1906, she married John Talsma at Alton, Iowa, where they made their home. Mr. Talsma died on March 23, 1923. Mrs. Talsma and her family came to Haywarden in 1932.

On November 6, 1952, she married Ed M. Johnson at Hawarden. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran church.

Survivors besides the widower are three sons, John Talsma of Hawarden, Ray Talsma of Lancaster, Calif., and Elmer Talsma of South Sioux City, Neb.; two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Boyles of Everly, Ia., and Mrs. Arlene Scott of Hawarden; two stepdaughters, Mrs. John Schoellerman of Hawarden and Mrs. Harold Lubben of Akron; four brothers, Arie, Ted, Elmer and Guy Van Meveren, all living in Minnesota, and 19 grandchildren.

Contributor's Note: Minnie was daughter of Arie and Eva (Blom) Van Meveren. Her brothers were sons of Arie and his second wife, Elizabeth (Dexter/Dykstra) Van Meveren. Minnie's second husband was J. E. Campbell who died in 1930, they had no children.
