Rev. Andrew D. Folkema, 70, a minister emeritus of the Christian Reformed Church, who served the Hawarden parish from 1935 to 1945, died at Grand Rapids, Michigan, in the Christian Rest Home. He had been ill about a year.

Funeral services were held at the De Vries Chapel with Rev. A.A. Kroning of Coopersville Christian Reformed Church officiating. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery there.

Born in The Netherlands, Mr. Folkema moved with his family to Cincinnati, Ohio, as an infant. The family later moved to New Era.

He graduated from the Calvin seminary in 1919 and served Christian Reformed Churches in Estelline, South Dakota, Ackley, Iowa, Berwyn, Illinois, Drayton, Ontario and Sullivan, Michigan as well as Hawarden where he served ten years.

Surviving are his wife, Gertrude; three brothers, John and Elmer of Fremont and Dick of Grand Rapids, and two sisters, Mrs. Sadie Wind of Grand Rapids and Mrs. John Wybenga of New Era.
