On Sunday afternoon about three o’clock the death angel spread its raven wings over the home of Mrs. Webster Finley, stilling the heart and bringing peace to the soul of Miss Lizzie, second daughter of Mrs. Finley, who has been a sufferer for many months. Death always comes as a shock no matter how long the illness, and the whole community sympathizes with the bereaved mother and family in this sorrow.

Lizzie N. Finley was born May 31, 1882, in Buncombe township this county. She united with the Presbyterian Church when she was fourteen years of age and has been a faithful member since that time, working patiently in the Sunday school and Endeavor Society. She has been a great sufferer for about a year and a half but has borne her trials with Christian grace. When the end drew near she summoned the members of the family to her bedside and gave each her parting blessing. She had often said she was ready to go and left a message of thanks to all her friends for their kindness and remembrance of beautiful flowers, also to her doctors for their patience and forbearance with her weakness. She was cheerful and patient to the last and the Independent only voices the sentiments of her family when it thanks the friends and neighbors for their sympathy and kindness during their hours of trouble.

The funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian Church Monday afternoon by Rev. Chittenden and the casket was followed to Grace Hill Cemetery by many sorrowing friends.
