John Den Boer, age 83, died Sunday, April 18, 2004, at Heart Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD. Memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 5,2004, at Netherlands Reformed Church, Rock Valley. Reverend G.M. de Leeuw officiated. Burial took place prior to the service at Valley View Cemetery.

John was born February 16, 1921, to John and Alice (Van Beek) Den Boer in Rock Valley. John was united in marriage to Gertrude Koedam on October 2, 1945, in Rock Valley. Together they farmed west of Rock Valley until moving to Rock Valley in 1987. John was a past Deacon of Netherlands Reformed Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Gertrude; three sons, James (Mavis), Arlyn (Nelba) and Myron (special friend, Laura Kooima); two sisters Rena Vande Hoef and Everdena (Bill) Koedam; sister-in-law, Jennie Den Boer all of Rock Valley; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Rebecca Ann Den Boer; brother Peter Den Boer.
