Lyle R. Green, 71, of Hawarden, Iowa, died suddenly on January 16, 1993 at the Hawarden Community Hospital.

Services were held on Tuesday, January 20, 1993 at the United Methodist Church in Hawarden, the Reverend Karla Kirkeby officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Hawarden American Legion. The Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Green was born on March 27, 1921, in Plymouth County, Iowa, the son of Norris and Anna (Voverka) Green. He attended school in the Hawarden vicinity. He married Carmen Edmunds in Hawarden on February 20, 1941. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945, all overseas duty in England and Germany with the exception of two months. After his discharge he worked for the Sioux County Highway Department, retiring after 37 years of service.

Mr. Green was a longtime member of the Eagles Lodge, having served all offices twice.

Survivors include his wife, Carmen; two sons and their wives, Marlo “Butch” and Lisa and Ronald and Connie, all of Hawarden; two brothers, Floyd “Hank” Green of Ireton, Iowa, and Glenn Green of California; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Beulah, Opal, Vivian, and Rosalyn; three brothers, Andrew, Kenneth, and Raymond; and a great-grandchild, Eric Curriel
