Kenneth Elvin Green, 45, died from a heart attack at his home in Hawarden Tuesday morning. He had suffered from a serious heart condition and had consulted with a doctor in Sioux City the preceding day.

Mr. Green, a resident of this community all his life, was employed at the National Council Oak store here. He at one time was in charge of the meat department at the Hi-Lo Market and worked in other markets as well as being a long distance trucker a number of years.

He was born September 13, 1913, on a farm south of Hawarden. He was a member of the Lutheran Church in Hawarden where he was confirmed May 12, 1944 by Rev. C.A. Burkhart. He married Joyce Jans of Hawarden at South Sioux City on January 19, 1936.

He was an active member and director of the Hawarden Saddle Club.

Survivors include the widow, Joyce; a daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Schlueter of Hawarden; a son, Pvt. 1/c Larry K. Green who is with the armed forces in France; four sisters, Mrs. Beulah Waterman of Montour, Iowa, Mrs. Opal Waterman of Waterloo, Iowa, Mrs. Vivian Marshall of Hawarden and Mrs. Rosalyn Lindquist of Waterloo; three brothers, Floyd of Ireton, Lyle of Hawarden, and Glenn of Waterloo, and a granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Andrew.

Funeral services were tentatively set for 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the Trinity Lutheran Church with burial at Grace Hill Cemetery. Word was received from the son, Larry, who has been granted a leave and will fly here from France.
