Thirsa Jane was born on Jan. 9, 1872 at Grundy Center, Iowa to Joseph and Charlotte Lucetta (Gifford) Gilfillan.

She married Warren Luther Green on July 12, 1889 at Mitchell, South Dakota. To this union five children were born.

They resided in Sioux City, Iowa for a number of years. They moved to Beresford, South Dakota. After a short residence there, they moved to Hawarden, Iowa. Her husband, Warren Green, started the well known SS Restaurant.

She had been in poor health for almost a year. A week before she passed, she was quite ill and sent for her daughter, Lucy Millard. She was doing much better when her daughter arrived, so her daughter returned to Hawarden, Iowa. She had planned on going to Hawarden to spend a week with her daughter, but suddenly became worse and lost consciousness from which she never recovered. She passed away the following day.

Thirsa is survived by her father, Joseph Gilfillan; four daughters, Ida May (Oscar) Howe, Lucetta Jane (Guy) Millard, Winnie Thirsa (Fred) Jeffers and Florabel (Lawrence) Lewis; and one son, Lawrence Warren (Lillian) Green.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Luther Green; and her mother, Charlotte Lucetta Gilfillan.
