James Humme, 63, of Rock Valley died Thursday, October 7, 2004 at the Heart Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral Service was at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the First Reformed Church, Rock Valley with Reverend Mike Van Hainersveld as officiant. Interment was at Valley View Cemetery Rock Valley.

James Leland Humme was born September 7,1941 to Arnold and Cornelia "Kate" (Vos) Humme near George, IA. He graduated from Hull Public High School in 1959. James was united in marriage to Wilma Jouwstra on November 28, 1962 in Rock Valley. Together they farmed in Rock Valley and Hardwick, MN. James drove bus for Jack Rabbit Bus Lines for nine years before moving to Rock Valley in 1978 where he worked for Rock Valley Cement Block and Tile for six years. He then owned his own trucking business until he retired in 2001. James enjoyed many sport activities with his family and friends including golf, fishing, cycling and camping.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma; two daughters: Sheila (Todd) Van Driel and Carla (Jeff)Koldenhoven, both of Rock Valley; five grandchildren: Justin and Heather Van Driel and Katie, Quintin and Ty Koldenhoven; two brothers: John (Zofia) Humme of New York and Pete (Sylvia) Humme of Orange City, IA; four sisters: Nelverne(Ted) Marra of Sanborn, I A, Norma (Alan) Vander Meulen of Ocheyden, IA, Mary (Harlan) Van't Hul of Rock Valley and Donna Humme of Sioux Falls, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson,Blake Van Driel; brother, David Humme and a sister in law Mary Ann Humme.
