James Peter Hopp, 64, of Austin, Minn., formerly of Ireton, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004 at the Austin Medical Center in Austin. Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Reformed Church in Ireton with Rev. Doug Van Aartsen officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Ireton. There will be no visitation at the Porter Funeral Home in Ireton.

James Peter Hopp was born July 25,1940 in Ireton, the son of Peter and Marie (Hoekstra) Hopp. He graduated from Toledo, Iowa High School and served for six years in the US Army, being stationed in France and Korea. James was employed in construction, first with roads and then working in roofing. He lived in Fort Dodge and for the past 30 years in Austin, Minn. He enjoyed sports, fishing and gardening.

He is survived by a brother, Marv of Beresford; numerous nephews, nieces and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Gertrude Olson and her husband Joseph.
