Pearl L. Krogman, 88, of Alton, IA passed away Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA.

Pearl was born June 4,1915 at rural Sheldon, IA the daughter of Charles and Mary (Wilwert) Hentges. Pearl died after a brief illness. She moved with her family to the Alton area in 1916 and received her education at St. Mary's Academy in Alton from which she graduated in 1933. On Nov. 26, 1936 she married Henry R. Krogman at Alton. They farmed in the Alton and Remsen area over 50 years, retiring on the farm near Alton in 1978. Henry died July 26, 1987.

Pearl moved into Alton in 1988. She had been a resident of Long Term Care of the Orange City Health System since Aug. 7, 2003. Funeral Services with Rev. John Vakulskas were 10:30A.M. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery in Alton. Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen, IA handled arrangements.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, Jack and Myrna of Ottertail, MN, Donald and Mary Ann of Alton, Jim and Doris of Remsen, IA; one daughter, Mary and her husband Wayne Bailey of Alton; 12 grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; one brother, Carl and his wife Ceci Hentges of Alton; one sister-in-law, Florence Schumacher of Washington, IA. Pearl was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the church Guild and St. Mary's Rosary Society.

Pearl enjoyed crocheting afghans for her family and kept a daily diary for many years. Casket Bearers were Glenn, Neil, Curtis, John, Kevin, Mark and Max Krogman, Matt Peterson. Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Molly Homan. Visitation was after 2:00 P.M. on Friday. There was a rosary by St. Mary's Rosary Society at 3:00 P.M. and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 P.M. all at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton.
