Kenyon Karr, 80, of Ireton, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden. Funeral service was Jan. 24 at the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig, with the Rev. A. Pete Petersen officiating. Burial was in the St. John's Cemetery at Craig. Porter Funeral Home in Ireton was in charge of arrangements.

Kenyon Karr was born Oct. 10,1923 near Ireton, the son of John Randall and Mary Mae (Johnston) Karr. He attended rural school and graduated from Ireton High School in 1941. Kenyon married Luella Popken Dec. 28, 1943. Kenyon farmed with his father and later on his own near Ireton for more than 50 years. He served on the council of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig and for over 30 years was trustee for Washington Township.

Survivors include his wife, Luella; five children, Drenda Onken of Sergeant Bluff, Sharyl Hanna of Mount Prospect, 111., Rodney Karr of Sugar Land, Texas, Terry Karr of Hawarden, and Rhonda Wilkie of Garner, N. C.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Weston Karr of LeMars. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Hollis, Leland, Thurlow and Lyman.
