Died: May 16, 2001 Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Raymond Huyser, 79, of Rock Valley died Wed. May 16, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Sat. at First Reformed Church with the Rev. Dr. Michael Van Hammersveld officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery at Rock Valley.

Huyser was born May 19, 1921 in Lynnville, the son of Henry and Elizabeth (Maassen) Huyser. He moved with his family to the Inwood area as a child. He attended Inwood Country School and them worked on the family farm. He married Katherine Schoep on Dec. 15, 1944, in Carmel. The couple farmed the Schoep farm, then purchased a farm southwest of Rock Valley, where they farmed for seven years. Then they bought a farm east of Rock Valley, where they farmed for 20 years. They moved into Rock Valley in 1979. He was a volunteer at the local hay sale and sale barn. He also did missionary work in Annville, KY, for 15 years. He later was a volunteer with Hope Haven in the Wheelchair repair shop. He enjoyed traveling.

Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Robert and Lorna of Rock Valley; three daughters, Linda and her husband Dwaine De Groot of Rock Valley, Audrey and her husband Dan Mulder of Doon and Karen Link of Des Moines; two sisters, Stella Van Veldhuizen and Frieda and her husband Jake Van Voorst of Inwood; a sister-in-law, Mary Huyser of Inwood; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Cornie.
