Died: October 3, 2003 Rural Orange City, Iowa

Wesley Huisman, 51, of Orange City died Fri. Oct. 3, in an airplane accident in rural Orange City.

A memorial service was Tues. Oct. 7, at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Orange City with Rev. Jeffrey Sajdak and the Rev. Charles Louvau officiating. Interment was at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.

Huisman was born Jan. 20, 1952 at Orange City, the son of Verne William and Fayola Berdell (Mouw) Huisman. He was raised at Orange City and graduated from Western Christian High School in Hull. He also attended the Dunwoody Institue in Minneapollis, MN. On June 22, 1973, he married Ella Kay Vande Griend at Orange City. They made their home in Sheldon for eight years and then moved north of Orange City, where he farmed. He also owned and operated Keizer Aluminum Wheels in Sioux Center.

He enjoyed life to the fullest. He especially liked spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren, going flying with friends, and hunting and racing.

Survivors include his wife, "Tyke"; a daughter and her husband, Liza and Jeff Schouten of Orange City; a son and his wife, Wade Wesley and Angela Huisman of Hospers; two grandsons; his parents, of Orange City; a brother, Gene A. Huisman of Sioux Center, and two sisters, Valerie Van Schepen of Orange City and Gail De Jong of Des Moines, IA.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Jan.

Memorials may be directed to the Craig Hospital in Englewood, Colorado, or Unity Christian High School in Orange City.
