Theodore 'Ted" Ney, 97, of Orange City, formerly of Granville, died Sunday, March 14,2004, at the Orange City Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March l9 at lO:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Granville. Msgr. Kenneth Seifried officiated. Burial was held at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Granville, under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home Remsen.

Theodore was born Nov. 4, 1906, at rural Granville, the son of John and Mary (Klein) Ney. He was raised and educated in the Granville area attending St. Joseph's Catholic School. After school Ted farmed with his father. In 1929, he moved to the old homestead and continued farming. On Jan. 15,1934, he married Kathryn Lammers at Granville. The couple continued farming in the Granville area until 1986, when Ted was 80 years old. They then moved into Orange City in the fall of 1999.

The couple recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in January of this year. Survivors include his wife Kathryn of Orange City; three daughters, Doris Seyranian of Oakland, Calif., Marilyn and husband Harvey Leberman of Newtown, Penn., and Maxine and husband Irv Noteboom of Granville; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great great- grandson; four brothers, Lawrence, Tony and wife Evelyn and Jack and wife Doralice, all of Granville and Joe and wife Millie of Sheldon; four sisters, Marie Mienen of Ashton. Rosie Kooband Francis Koob, both of Granville and Kitty Penning of Spirit Lake; sister-in-law Marie Olson of Del Rapids, S.D.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ney was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Granville. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Emma and husband Clarence Graff and Elizabeth Ney in infancy; two brothers, Peter Ney and Robert in infancy; great-grandson Nicholas Seyranian; son-in-law Leon Seyranian; four brothers-in-law, Milo and Ed Koob, Louie Mienen and Adrian Penning; and
sister-in-law Helen Ney.
