Irwin Mulder, 80, of rural Ireton died suddenly on Monday, Feb. 2,2004 near his residence. Funeral service was Feb. 7 at the Christian Reformed Church in Ireton with Rev. Ron Sprik officiating. Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Ireton. Porter Funeral . Home of Ireton was in charge of arrangements.

Irwin Mulder was born April 16,1923 at Hawarden, the son of Ed and Ida (Borgman) Mulder. He moved to Ireton at the age of 16 and married Gertrude Vander Kooy Oct. 29, 1948 at Ireton. The couple farmed near Ireton and Irwin also did custom work for others. He was a carpenter, a building mover and a jack of many trades. Irwin was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Ireton and was an active counselor with the cadets for over 20 years.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude; four daughters and three sons, June Dykstra of Sioux Center, Joann Rietema of Helena, Mont., Jean De Bey of Sioux Center, Joy Van Schepen of Arnolds Park, Iowa, Jeff Mulder of Ireton, Jim Mulder of Sioux Center and Jay Mulder of Ireton; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ben of Pella, and Curt of Denver, Colo.; three sisters, Geneva Kramer of Sioux Center, Edna Mulder of Orange City, and Ila Schiebout of Orange City; and two sisters-in- law, Frances Mulder of Ireton and Gladys Mulder of Orange City.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Lee Mulder; a grandson, Gabriel Peter Dykstra; and four brothers, William,Lawrence, Clarence and Alvin.
