William "Bill" Wallenburg, 79, of Hawarden, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden. Funeral Service was Jan. 12 at the American Lutheran Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Jeff Swanson officiating. Burial followed at the Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden. Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden was in charge of arrangements.

William "Bill" Wallenburg was born April 6,1925 at Edna, Iowa, the son of Ring and Winnie (Harskamp) Wallenburg. He was a self-employed contractor for over 40 years, making his home in Hawarden. He married Gertrude Brunsting on Oct. 28, 1976 at Alcester. Gertrude died on May 4, 1999. Bill moved into the Hillcrest Health Care Center April 11, 2003 when his health started to decline.

He is survived by his previous wife, Trudy Smith; seven children, Linda Harrisson of Red Bluff, Calif, Laurene Proietti of Cottonwood, Calif, Gloria Eddie Hardy of Happy Valley, Calif., Steve Wallenburg of Rock Rapids, Pam Archer of Red Bluff, Calif, Bev Sumpter of North Pole, Alaska and Michael Wallenburg of Burney, Calif; step-son Roger Brunsting of Merrill; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Hank Wallenburg of Modesto, Calif, and Rich Wallenburg of Rock Valley; four sisters, Christina Kersbergen of Rock Valley, Alyda Burgers of Sioux Center, Gertrude Huisman of Rock Valley and Wilma Van Beek of Artesia, Calif; two sisters-in-law, Mable Wallenburg of Lakewood, Calif, and Mina Wallenburg of Artesia, Calif; and a special friend Adel Veach of Hawarden.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Mike Harrisson; a great-grandchild, Susan Isabella Wallenburg; and four brothers, Tony, Gilbert, Ring and John.
