Marian E. Wendel, 83, of Hawarden died Thursday, Jan. 29,2004 at the Mica Hill Estates in Hawarden. Funeral service was Feb. 2 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Todd Bunge officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden. Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden was in charge of arrangements.

Marian E. Wendel was born Dec. 22, 1920 in Hawarden the daughter of Adolph and Mary (Harrison) Pasewalk. She graduated from Hawarden High School in 1939, and from Sioux Valley School of Nursing in 1944 at Sioux Falls. She served in the Army Nurse Corp in the Philippines from 1945 to 1946, during WW II. Following her discharge as a 2ml Lieutenant she attended the University of Washington and received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She worked for Drs. Haggar and Eneboe for many years.

Marian married Robert Wendel Sept. 3,1964 at Pipestone, Minn. Mr. Wendel died April 27, 1999. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her sister, Dawn Hartmann of Hawarden; one niece, Fayth Taylor Torrance, Calif; five nephews, Norman Pasewalk of Sedona, Ariz., Lee Pasewalk of Torrance, Larry Pasewalk of Hubbard, Neb., Tom Pasewalk of Emerson, Neb., and Marc Pasewalk of Aurora, Colo.; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Vera Pasewalk of Akron, Mrs. Ellen Pasewalk of Hawthorne, Calif and Mrs. Arlene Brandes of Bellevue, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her husband; and three brothers, Robert, Russell and LeRoy Pasewalk.
