Iva M. Wessels, 82, of Le Mars died August 22, 2004 at the Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars. Funeral services were Aug. 25 at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars with the Rev. Larry Fett officiating. Interment was in Memorial Cemetery. Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars was in charge of arrangements.

Iva Mildred Ehlers was born on the family farm southwest of Ireton on Nov. 19, 1921 the daughter of Carl and Florence "Flossie" (Whitney) Ehlers. Iva was baptized into the Methodist faith and later in life was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ireton. She attended country school and later graduated from Hawarden High School. Iva was united in marriage on Jan. 10, 1943 at Ireton to Leonard "G.C." Wessels. The couple operated the I & L Pub in Ireton for several years. Leonard and Iva farmed the Whitney family farm northwest of Craig from 1957 to 1983 when they moved to Le Mars. Iva was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she enjoyed participating in church activities.

Survivors include a granddaughter, Raquel Kolker of Le Mars; a grandson Joshua Wessels of Anaheim, Calif.; and a great granddaughter, Katelyn Kolker of Le Mars. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard on April 22,1995; and a son, Arnold Wessels on March 26,1980.
