Lena M. Weyen 92, of Akron died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden. Funeral services were Feb. 13 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron with the Rev. Jean Morse officiating.

Mrs. Weyen was born Feb. 8, 1912 in rural Hawarden, the daughter of Dave and Anna (Stahlbaum) Vander Ham. She attended country school until the fifth grade when she was needed to work around the farm. She married Herman F. Weyen Dec. 29,1929 in Elk Point. Mr. Weyen died Aug. 26, 1975. She was employed as a house cleaner and took in washing.

She was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Chatsworth, then transferring to Trinity Lutheran in Akron. She was also a member of the Eagles and the Ladies Aid.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Meyer of Akron and Dorothy DeVos of Sioux Center; two sons, Ray Weyen of Sioux Center and Dean Weyen of Akron; 12 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosie and Annie; and one brother, Bill. She was preceded in death by an infant son; two brothers, Fred and Herman; and three sisters, Mary, Katie and Minnie
