Pearle Bernice Black Venard, 89, of Hawarden, died Tuesday, October 19,2004 at the Hawarden Community Hospital. Funeral Service was Oct. 23 at the Associated Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Rick Kargaard officiating. Burial followed in Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden., Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden was in charge of arrangements.

Pearle Bernice Venard was born June 1, 1915 in Humboldt, S. D., the daughter of Morris and Elizabeth Black. Her family later moved to Ireton. She married Wayne "Shorty" Venard May 4, 1932 at Canton. They made their home in Hawarden where they were members of the Associated Church and Wayne was in business.

Wayne died Sept. 4, 1998. At the time of her death, Pearle was living at Mica Hill Estates in Hawarden. Pearle is survived by one son, Stan Venard of Waukee, Iowa;a daughter-in-law, Barb Venard of Murdo, S.D.; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Vi Venard of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Mildred Venard of Hawarden; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; son, Lyle; two granddaughters; and three sisters and one brother.
