Joe Raymond Kleinhesselink, 85, of Orange City died Thursday , August 11, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital. Funeral service was Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at First Reformed Church in Orange City with the Rev. Steven Vander Molen officiating. Interment was at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.

Kleinhesselink was born September 9, 1919, in rural Alton, the son of John and Johanna (Mouw) Kleinhesselink. He was raised at Alton. On February 15, 1945, he married Dorella Huisman at Maurice. They farmed the same land where he was born and raised at Alton. In January of 1982, they retired into Orange City.

He was a member of First Reformed Church. He liked playing games and visiting friends at the Adult Activity Center in Orange City. His five grandsons were very important to him. He enjoyed making wooden toys for them and attending their sports activities.

Survivors include his wife of more than 60 years ; three daughters and their husbands, Cheryl and Stephen Person of Tipton, Maria and Myron Toering of Sioux Center and Dorenda and Kevin Ohm of Brookings, South Dakota; five grandsons; two great-granddaughters; a brother and his wife, Henry and Hattie Kleinhesselink of Orange City; and two sisters, Burdean Huitink and Alma and her husband Milton Bogaard, all of Orange City.

He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Charles Huitink. Memorials will be directed to breast cancer research.
