Lorraine" Lorrie " Koele, 68, of Sioux Center died Wednesday, October 18, at her home. Funeral services were Friday at 1:30 p.m. at First Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center with the Rev. Mark Verbruggen officiating. Interment was in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.

Mrs. Koele was born near New Holland, South Dakota, to Bonne and Rickie (Feenstra) Vander Tuin. She graduated from New Holland Christian School and Western Christian High School at Hull. On June 12, 1956 she married Duane Koele at the New Holland Christian Reformed Church. They made their home in Hull until 1972 when they moved to Sioux Center. She was a faithful member of First Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center. She worked for Carrie Foods food service at Dordt College until she retired in 1999. Her many friends will not forget how-special, she was to each one of them.

They had many happy times and some serious talks over coffee. She loved to be with her family and was very protective of them. Every one loved her chocolate chip cookies.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Duane Koele of Sioux Center; one daughter and her husband, Rachel and Randy Kroll of New Brighton, Minnesota; two sons and their wives, Roger and Diane (Dirksen) Koele and Richard and Stacy (Dirkse) Koele, all of Sioux Center; six grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Viola Vander Tuin of Platte, South Dakota; sisters, Evelyn and Gene Niewenhuis of New Holland and Margaret and Alvin Feenstra of Stickney, South Dakota; brothers, Junior and Kathy of Alexandria, Minnesota, and Doug and Monica of Ft. Collins, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bonne and Rickie Vander Tuin of New Holland; and a brother, John Vander Tuin. The Koele Family prefers memorials be directed to CHEARS Home Health and Hospice
