Fern Jacobe, 85, of Canton, formerly of Hawarden, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2005 at the Good Samaritan Center in Canton. Funeral Service was Oct. 5 at the Associated Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Rick Kargard officiating. Burial followed in the Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden. The Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden was in charge of arrangements.

Fern Jacobe was born April 6, 1920 in Princeton, Ken., the daughter of Ruben and Gertrude (Martin) Corley. She moved by train with her family to the Akron, area where her father was a farm hand. They lived near Akron, Westfield, and Alcester. Fern attended school at Akron. Fern married Lewis Jacobe March 13,1940 at LeMars. They made their home in Hawarden, where Lewis was a carpenter. They later moved to Sioux Falls, in 1961 and to Canton in October of 1969. Lewis died on Sept. 9, 1985.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Jacobe of Canton; and two sisters-inlaw, Donna Penrod of Westland, Mich, and Jane Jacobe of Sioux City.
