William S. Koedam
William "Bill" S. Koedam, 82, of Rock Valley died Wednesday, February 23, at Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Netherlands Reformed Congregation in Rock Valley with the Rev. G. M. de Leeuw officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery.

Koedam was born April 29, 1922, in Rock Valley, the son of Sam and Gert (Zomer) Koedam. He lived near. Corsica, South Dakota, during his childhood and received his education at a country school. He moved back to Rock Valley at the age of 15. He married Everdena Van Beek on March 12, 1946, in Rock Valley. He was involved in farming and the livestock auction business his entire life. He retired in 1986.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Sid (Linda) and Roger(Muriel), all of Rock Valley; three daughters, Lavonne (Steve) Joyal and Kathy (Denny) Cannegieter, allof Rock Valley, and Betty (Randy) Kock of Inwood; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sam (Reval) of Canton, South Dakota, and Jim (Kathy) of Armour, South Dakota; three sisters, Hermina (Gilbert) Hoogendoornof Sioux Falls, Lydia (Rich) Van Otterloo of Rock Valley and Ruth (Leonard) Zoeller of Hawarden; and a sister-in-law, Rosella"Sally" Koedam of Sheldon. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Herm, John and Andrew Koedam; a sister, Jennie Vonk; an infant sister, Martha; and a great-granddaughter.
