ELMER REINDERS
ORANGE CITY, Iowa - Elmer Reinders, 79, of Orange City passed away Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Redeemer United Reformed Church in Orange City, with the Rev. Ralph Pontier officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery, Orange City. Visitation will be after 3:30 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. Elmer Edward was born Oct. 20, 1924, at Orange City, the son of Reyer and Hattie (Van't Hol) Reinders. He was first raised at Carnes, Iowa, and then, as a child, he moved to Orange City with his family. He graduated from Orange City High School and received a bachelor's degree from Morningside College in Sioux City. He served in the U.S. Army during both World War II and the Korean Conflict.On Dec. 28, 1956, he married Johanna Vander Vegte at Orange City. They made their home in Orange City, where he was a heavy equipment operator. He owned Reinders Construction and also was employed by other constniction companies. Mr. Reinders was a member of Redeemer United Reformed Church and the Disabled American Veterans. He was active in the Right to Life movement and often expressed his opinions in "letters to the editor" sections in area newspapers. He was a regular visitor at the Orange City Public Library and enjoyed polka music and everything about motorcycles. His grandchildren meant everything to him.Survivors include his wife of 47 years, "Joey": a daughter and her husband, Merrilee and Gary Stang, of Slayton, Minn.; two grandchildren, Shelby and Cole: and a brother, Wilbur Reinders, of Okohoji, Iowa.In addition to his parents. he was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Rich and Gerald.

ELMER E. REINDERS Mr. Elmer Reinders, age 79, of Orange City, passed away Saturday, August 28, at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. There was a funeral service on Tuesday, August 31, at 10:30am, at the Redeemer United Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Ralph Pontier officiated. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation was after 3:30pm Monday, with the family present from 6:30pm to 8:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.
