Died: November 18, 2005 Omaha, Nebraska

Dr. J. K. "Ken" Marriott, 87, Granville, died Fri. Nov. 18, at Parsons House in Omaha, NE.

Services were Tues. Nov. 22, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville, with the Rev. Richard Ball officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery, under the direction of Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Ken Marriott, son of William and Margaret (Schroeder) Marriott, was born Jan. 5, 1918, in Sioux City, where he was raised and educated, graduating from Trinity High School in 1936. He graduated from Iowa State University in Ames with a degree in veterinary medicine in 1942, and enlisted in the U.S. Army that same year. He married Mary Frances Hackett on July 29, 1943, in Sioux City. He served in the Pacific Theater and with the occupational forces in Japan during World War II, being discharged June 3, 1946. They lived in Sioux City, where he was a federal inspector at the Stockyards. They moved in 1951 to Alton, where he began his private practice. They moved to Granville in 1955. He closed his veterinary practice in 1964 and resumed working for the U. S. Dept. of Agriculture, retiring in 1982. Mrs. Marriott died May 3, 1998. He moved to Omaha, NE in Sept. of 1998 to be near his daughter.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan and Dr. John Hunziker of Omaha, NE. and Joan and Ray Garcia of Colorado Springs, CO; three sons, Martin and Debra Marriott of Indianola, Steven and JoAnn Marriott of LeClaire and Sergeant Frank Marriott and his fiancee Kym Kuoni of Alexandria, VA; six grandchildren; a sister, Mary Lou Lonergen of Rockford, IL; and a brother, Dale and Lois Marriott of San Diego.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Charles Marriott.
