Henry C. Boeve, 80, Hull, died Sunday, Nov. 21, at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Services were Wed. Nov. 24, at First Reformed Church in Hull, with the Rev. Verlyn Boone officiating. Burial was at Hope Cemetery in Hull, under the direction of Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Henry Boeve, son of Henry and Ella (Bos) Boeve, was born Sept. 17, 1919, in Hull. He was raised on the family farm northeast of Hull, where he attended country school. He married Johanna Westra on Sept. 28, 1939, in Hull. They farmed east of Doon. They moved to the "Bos family" farm two miles north of Hull in 1942. Mrs. Boeve died March 21, 1948. He married Darlene Oostenink on Feb. 22, 1950, in Hull. He actively farmed the same land for 57 years, finishing his last discing a week before his illness.

He was a member of First Reformed Church. He served on the Farmers Co-op Elevator Board of Directors, of which he was president for six years; served as a director of A.M.P.I.; and served on the boards of directors of the rural school system and later the Boyden-Hull Schools 1958-1980.

He currently was president of Hull Cemetery Association. His pastimes included camping, fishing, and his favorite--retelling takes of early farming days, especially his love of horses. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and he was an avid bowler.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene; eight children, Janice and C. Dwayne De Boer of Hull, Patti and Dave Bollom of Chippewa Falls, WI, Ken and Bev Boeve of Hull, Duane and Sharon Boeve of Sibley, Norm and Mary Boeve of Hull, Darla and George Vande Kamp of Hull, and Lisa and Glen Kooiker of Hull; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; six brothers, Albert and Cynthia Boeve of Luverne, MN, Donald and Joan Boeve of Hills, MN., Arthur and Henrietta Boeve of Steen, MN., Jim and Sharon Boeve of Beaver Creek, MN., Gary Boeve of Hull and Ervin and Sarah Boeve of Tyler, MN; five sisters, Gert and Gilbert Leusink of Clinton, WI, Dorene and Arnold Hulshof of Sioux Center, Lois and Bill Oostra of Winneconne, WI, Eleanor and John Warntjes of Hull and Helen and Tunis Overman of Rock Rapids; and two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Boeve of Rock Valley and Lois and Roger Baatz of Rock Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Johanna; his parents; and three brothers, Case, Merlin and Everett.
