Jacob Mieras died Saturday of typhoid fever after an illness of five months. Mr. Mieras was born in Holland thirty-four years ago and came to Sioux county seventeen years ago. He returned from North Yakima Washington in July and has been sick ever since. The funeral was held from the Dutch Reformed church Monday afternoon.

Mr. Knipple and family were called to Maurice yesterday to attend the funeral of Jacob Mieras, who died at the home of his brother Jas. Mieras, near Maurice, on Saturday of typhoid fever. Jacob Miras returned from Washington about two months ago. He leaves a mother and several brothers and sisters.

Family tree information on Ancestry.com gives his birth as 31 July 1873 in Wemeldinge, Zeeland, Holland, parents Adriaan Mieras and Dena DeGroene.

The 1900 U.S. federal census shows him as a farmer (age 26), living with his brother James (29) and James' wife Rosy (21) and daughter Dina (11 months). On the same census page is Dina Mieras (65, widowed, a farmer) living with her sons Johannes (24), John (20), and Marin[?] (16).
