Gilbert De Stigter, 71, of Sioux Center died Friday, March 30 at the Sioux Center nursing home. Services were held Tuesday at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center with the Rev. John Postman officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center under direction of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home.

Mr. De Stigter was born June 8, 1918 at Sioux Center, the son of Lane and Barbara (Visser) De Stigter. He married Cecelia Vander Spoel April 7, 1938. He was a partner in the De Stigter Brothers Construction Company. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church where he had served as an elder. He was also a past board member of the Master Builders of Iowa.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Roger of Escondido, Calif., and Vincent of Pioneer, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; five brothers, Tunis, Peter and Leonard, all of Sioux Center, Cornelius of Livonia, Mich., and Melvin of Hudsonville, Mich.; and four sisters, Helen Wassenaar and Mrs. E.J. (Alyda) Kosters, both of Sioux Center, Mrs. Gerard (Florence) Kalsbeek of Orange City (his twin sister), and Mrs. Norman (Lucille) Poel of
Grand Rapids, Mich. He was preceded in death by a brother, William and a sister, Ada Schoo.
