Tunis De Stigter, 85, of Sioux Center died Monday, January 19, at his residence. Memorial services were at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center with the Rev. John Witvliet officiating. Burial was at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

De Stigter was born July 16, 1912, in Sioux Center, the son of Lane and Barbara (Visser) De Stigter. He married Margaret Rehberg June 29, 1934. in Orange City. She died December 1, 1994.

He was a partner in the De Stigter Construction Company. He was a member of First Christian Reformed Church, where he was a deacon. He served on the Master Builders of Iowa board, the Scholarship Committee, the Sioux Center Planning and Zoning Board and the Appeals Committee. He enjoyed fishing, baseball and reading.

Survivors include five sons and their wives, Gerald and Helen of Escondido, California, Glenn and Vi of Ankeny, Bill and Dee of Carmel, Tim and Julie of Aurelia and Cliff and Margie of Sioux Falls: four daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Jack Mantel of Sioux Center, Linda and Les Anderson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Nancy and Bruce Kienapfel of Ouray, Colorado, and June and Dave Glewwe of Carmel; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren: four brothers, Peter and Leonard, both of Sioux Center, Cornelius of Livonia. Minnesota, and Melvin of Hudsonville, Michigan; and four sisters, Helen Wassenaar and Alyda Kosters. both of Sioux Center, Florence Kalsbeek of Orange City and Lucille Poel of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by an infant son; two brothers, William and Gilbert; and a sister. Ada Schoo.
