Leona Hulstein-Rich, 61, of Hull died Sunday, February 13, at her home in Hull. Memorial services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Reformed Church in Hull with the Rev. Verlyn Boone officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Sioux Center.

Mrs. Hulstein-Rich was born September 5, 1943, to Leenert and Johanna (De Groot) Van Der Linden, in Sioux Center. She was raised in Sioux County and completed eighth grade at Hull Christian School. She married Raymond E. Hulstein on March 3, 1966, at Wayside Chapel, Sioux Center. The couple resided in Hospers and Alton for a short time before settling in Hull. He preceded her in death on January 19, 1983. She married Harold F. Rich on August 4, 1989, in Hull. They made their home in Hull. He preceded her in death on July 7, 2000. She worked as a cook at the Holiday Bowl in Sioux Center for a number of years before working in the kitchen of Sioux Center Community Hospital for 12 years, More recently, she worked at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull as a cook and in the housekeeping department. She was a member of First Reformed Church in Hull, where she was involved in RCW and Circle. She was also active with the Red Hat Ladies and THEOS. She loved caring for the flowers in her yard and crocheting.

Survivors include two daughters, Clarice and Harlan Van Maanen and Lisa and Mike Te Velde, all of Hull; sons, Duane and Judy Hulstein of Orange City and Doug Hulstein of Hull; stepdaughters, Linda Peters of Texas, and Bione Patton and Mike Lanning of Sioux City; 13 grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren; three brothers, Henry and Lucille Van Der Linden of Leota, Minnesota, Albertus and Polly Van Der Linden of Worthington, Minnesota, and Adrian and Pam Van Der Linden of Hull; two sisters-in- law, Harriet Van Der Linden of Leota and Wilma Van Der Linden of Kenneth, Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a stepson, Robert Rich; and brothers, William and John Van Der Linden, and James Van Der Linden in infancy.
