Raymond Hulstein Sr., 96, of Edgerton, Minnesota, died Tuesday, January 25, at the Luverne Hospital. Funeral service was Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Edgerton. Interment was in the Hillside Cemetery, Edgerton.

Hulstein was born to Gerrit and Cornelia (Ver Ploegh) Hulstein on November 3, 1908, in Sioux Center. In his youth, he farmed with his father. He married Delia Gritters at her parents' home on July 20, 1927. They farmed near Sioux Center until 1949 when they moved to Edgerton and farmed there until he retired in 1971 and they moved into Edgerton. Following his retirement, he continued to help farmers with field work. His wife died April 23, 2000. He lived alone in his home until February 25, 2002. He then moved into Edgerton Estate Apartments. He was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Edgerton.

Survivors include 13 children and their families, Berdie and Cornie Broek and Loie Buyert, all of Sioux Center, Gary and Lavonne Hulstein, Ed and Arlene Hulstein, Marge and Arv Mesman and Ray Jr. and Teen Hulstein, all of Edgerton, Leonard and Jeanne Hulstein of Chandler, Minnesota, Delmar and Faye Hulstein of Edgerton, Garneth and Harold Van Surksum of Luverne, Leroy and Faye Hulstein of Woodstock, Minnesota, Sharon and Pete Struiksma of Bellflower, California, Iva and Jim Hoogeveen of Luverne and Karon and Lee Blom of Pipestone, Minnesota; 46 grandchildren; 116 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Cornelius, Conrad, William, Henry and Steve; three sisters, Hattie Kastine, Pearl Bosch and Johanna Lehudis; two sons- in-law, Barney Buyert and Tony Vallejo; six grandchildren; and one greatgreat- grandchild.
