Died: March 5, 2001Leonard “Lenny” Gerritson, 56, of Sioux City died Monday, March 5, 2001, at a Sioux City Hospital.
Services will be 1 P.M. Thursday at Pioneer United Church in Rock Valley, Iowa, with the Rev. Jerry Robertson officiating. Richard Gerritson will be the homilist. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley. Visitation will be 3 to 9 P.M. today, with the family present 6 to 8 P.M., at Larkin Northside Funeral Home in Sioux City. Rock Valley arrangements are under the direction of Porter Funeral Home.
Mr. Gerritson was born December 18, 1944, in Rock Valley, the son of Lane and Margaret (Kastine) Gerritson. He was raised in Rock Valley and moved to Sioux City in 1962.
He and his brother, Ben, were employed as a dry wall plasterers with Harber Dry Wall Company from 1962 to 1972, then with Tri-State Dry Wall Company from 1972 to 1994. He was next employed with Jarco Dry Wall Company from 1994 to 2000.
He married Becky J. (Detmering) Risetter on February 22, 1992, in Elk Point, South Dakota. He was a member of the Methodist Faith, Painters Local 214 and Local Plasterer’s Union. He enjoyed the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, Becky; two sons, Todd and his financee, Jeri, and Trent and his wife, Amy, all of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Teresa and Terry Ivener of Sioux City; a stepson, Brandon Risetter and his friend, Cassie Johnson of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Skyler and Carter Gerritson, Morgan Ivener, Triston Leonard Lane Gerritson and Jerry; two brothers and their wives, Art and Billie of Rock Valley, and Ben and Sandy of Sioux City; and two sisters, Betty Kraayenbrink of Venice, Florida, and Helen and her husband, Doug Reinke of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Brian and Brody Gerritson, Joe Kraayenbrink, Chad Reinke, Mark Russell and Rob Williams
