Clifford Dale Hofmeyer, 56, of Sioux City died Wednesday, April 27, at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City. A memorial service was Saturday, April 30, at 4 p.m. at Alton Reformed Church in Alton with the Rev. Michael Hardeman officiating. Interment was at the Nassau Township Cemetery, near Alton.

Hofmeyer was born on January 29, 1949, in Orange City, the son of Harvey Peter and Lois Jean (Van Der Maaten) Hofmeyer. He was raised at Alton, where he graduated from the Floyd Valley High School. He then served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict, While there, he earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He then made his home in Sioux City, where he was an automobile mechanic, operating Cliff's Repair. He enjoyed boating. He married Diane Lynn Henline, and they were blessed with a daughter, Sheila. The couple later divorced.

Survivors include his daughter and her husband, Sheila and Norman Bryant, of Pensacola,
Florida; two grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, Rodney and Jayne Hofmeyer and Andrew and Vicki Hofmeyer, all of Alton; and two sisters and their husbands, June and Burton Kennedy of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Cindy and David Menning of Bloomington, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents.
