Katherine Flink, 85, of Hawarden, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden. Funeral Service was Feb. 24 at the Big Springs Baptist Church rural Alcester with the Rev. Daryl Runion officiating. Burial followed in the Big Springs Baptist Cemetery. Funeral Home in Hawarden was in charge of arrangements.

Katherine Flink was born March 15,1919 the daughter of Oscar and Dorothy (Dick) Norberg on the Mc Carthy farm (Fritz Leafstedt) 1 I/2 miles south of Hawarden. She attended Dunham School until last three months of eighth grade when she graduated from Shoemaker School. For her teens she had many medical problems and a long time Mayo Clinic patient. After seven years she regained her health.

On June 30, 1940 she married Harold T. Flink at her family's home near Hawarden. They spent 1 1/2 years in California and came back to the Flink farm southeast of Alcester. In 1956 they moved back to Long Beach, Calif. Since 1993 the couple have spent most of their time in Hawarden. She was a member of the Grace First Presbyterian Church in Long Beach where she volunteered. Harold died Jan. 7, 2005.

She is survived by four daughters, Marty Tripp of Lakewood, Calif., Mary Goubeaux of Phoenix, Ariz., Ruth DeSilva of Long Beach, Calif, and Karen Flink of Redondo Beach, Calif; a brother, Carl "Topper" Norberg of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; four grandsons; four granddaughters; a great-grandson and a great-granddaughter. Katherine was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Norberg and a nephew, Carl Jon Norberg. Memorials may be directed to the Big Springs Baptist Church, Hawarden Community Hospital or Grace First Presbyterian Church at 3955 Studebaker Road in Long Beach, Calif. 90808.
