From the Hull Index, May 19, 1899:

Died.
At Clarinda hospital, Mrs. Dennis Toohey, mother of Dennis Toohey, and the Mesdames Hogan and N. Knewell, all of Hull. Mrs. Toohey was taken to Clarinda something over a year ago and since then has gradually become weaker, her trouble culminating in death last Friday [May 12]. The remains were brought to Hull for burial arriving here Monday. Through extreme neglect on the part of the railroads, the body was delayed in its transmission to Hull. The funeral occurred Tuesday forenoon, a large number of the friends of the bereaved families being present at the ceremonies, Father Phelen officiating. The body was interred in the Catholic cemetery. The relatives at Hull, though deeply sorrowful, can hardly wish the loved one back; her impaired mental faculties preventing her from enjoying life or the presence of those near and dear to her.

(A brief news note in the Sioux County Bee of May 19 says that she died in Independence, Iowa.)
