Funeral services were held at the First Reformed Church in Orange City, March 11 for Mrs. Tjerk J. De Vries, 91, of Orange City, who died at the Sioux Center Hospital March 8. Services were conducted by the Rev. Alvin Eisens and burial was made in West Lawn Cemetery.

Alice De Vries was born December 8, 1878, in The Netherlands. She came to the U.S. with her parents as a young girl. She was married to Tjerk J. De Vries March 1, 1906. The couple farmed in the Orange City area until 1929 when they moved into Orange City. Mr. De Vries died in 1962.

Survivors include three daughters; Mrs. Gerrit TeSlaa of Hull, Mrs. Ray Vander Wel of Orange City and Mrs. Ed Moss of Sioux Center; a son, John De Vries, of Montevideo, Minnesota; 14 grandchildren; and 21great grandchildren.

Note: Iowa 1925 Census states her parents were Eeltje De Vries and Titje Holwerda.
