From the Sioux County Bee and Rock Valley Register, February 3, 1899:
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schlumbohm have the sympathy of the community on account of the death of their young son Fred, which occurred Sunday [January 29]. The boy was about seven years old, was a bright and cheerful little fellow and his demise will leave a vacant spot in the home that nothing in this world can fill. The Bee joins with other friends of the bereaved parents in extending condolences. The funeral occurred Wednesday from the German Lutheran church, Rev. Janzig preaching the sermon. It was attended by a large number of neighbors and friends.

The most likely explanation for the considerable discrepancy in age between two boys with similar names who died on the same day is probably a transcription error in the cemetery index.)
